Here's my new engine that I picked up yesterday; 1679 CCs (88 mm cylinders, 69 mm crank). Vertex mag is large cylindrical object near top center. Carb is sitting on pallet at right bottom of picture.

Posted by Jack Dernorsek (78) on 2000-11-19 15:29:09 151.201.116.75

Another view of the new engine. Notice that single port intake pipe goes to each side of engine; then a main intake pipe connects near the center, goes rearward back over the rear cylinder to carb underneath.

Here is a picture from July '01 where Bill Day is visiting my Teenie project (Bill is on the right). He flew up from Maryland for the day.

There has been a lot of questions on the forum regarding the Hummelbird canopy setup. Here are two pictures that I took around 1990 of Bill Spring's original HB. This view, from behind the cockpit, shows the windscreen and the open canopy. Note that the HB has a round fuselage section which, compared to the Teenie, is quite different. However, there are some cues here that might allow you to make a similar arrangement for your T2.

Another shot of Bill Spring's Hummelbird and the canopy setup. The canopy is shown open here. It is hinged on the side and flips over to open.

Tinwind annoucement included with plans bought in the early 90's. The picture is poor as it was a copy of the origninal photo that was cut and pasted for copying for distribution. Note the date of the announcement. Seems to suggest this was long before the T2.

Here is my exhaust, weld tacked together but not welded completely yet. I will take it to the hangar and try it on the engine before I finish the welding. The head shown is an old spare that I have used for several purposes here at home (makes a great paperweight, too).

Also shown is my stainless steel carb heat muff which fits on the exhaust to the left of the picture (right side of plane).

Here is an attempt to show what my problem is.

Only the rear spar connection point seems to be the problem.

The nameless (to protect the guilty) pilot added: "I droped a plumb bob down, down to the floor from the prop flange. All measurement were taken with a tape measure and bath room scales. Using the Prop flang for the datum point....Almost the fwd limit. I added 1.5lbs balast at tail or 144in on top of the stabilizer. Moves the C/g 38.10 inches form the prop flange.
Ok This plane flys, and with full fuel and hand off the stick wants to nose down. Some back presure of a very light amount , flying with thumb and two fingers on the stick. A sleeping bag, coat, 3tie downs , can be added to the back of the seat with a bundgie cord . Coffee cup on the Left side and a map on the right. No Problem"
