Here's the plane that started it all folks. The Jeanies Teenie, Popular Mechanics project plane of May 1968 !
"Build a flying VW for $ 600." I was in eighth grade; carried this issue of PM every day to school, thru two years of college!!!! I knew I would build it someday. Bought the plans for the Teenie in 1984. Started in Oct '84.

Bobby Thomas's Teenie II, showing engine detail. Robert Aymar, Aymar-DeMuth Propeller Co., is in the yellow shirt standing on the left side of the Teenie. Bob, built Teenie I, N31RA and installed an 0-84 35 h.p. military standard engine. Flew just fine and a good optional engine for a Teenie.

A recent inquiry from a Forum Member about Dave Garner's Jeanies Teenie 1, built in 1969 in Tacoma, Washington. Dave claims that there were few modifications but you can see that he added end plates to cap the outward tips of the wings. Maybe this bird will get rebuilt and fly once again. It is now owned by Shaun Lance.

............it's in the shop right now getting a few minor dings fixed. I'll get some more pics later when it is all back together.

Posted by Jerry Mahurin (6) on 2003-07-07 22:01:21 68.154.153.152

Jim's T2 has dual ignition (the other set of plugs is on the bottom) and a two bladed IVO prop. I think it is an 1800 or 1900 cc engine.

Posted by Jerry Mahurin (6) on 2003-07-07 22:04:18 68.154.153.152

From the other side. It is two inches wider than plans. The sides are two inches higher and the turtle deck is three inches higher than plans. You can't tell it by just looking....

Posted by Jerry Mahurin (6) on 2003-07-07 22:07:10 68.154.153.152

Maybe this should be in the 'tail' section...... You can see the registration plate though; so that makes it a finished T2.

Here is a great picture of John Donaldson's Teenie Two. Great Work, and flies great according to John and his test pilot, Brian Buckley. If you find an old Vertex magneto, have it rebuilt, according to John. His engine quit even though the mag was never used, but very old.

Here is a picture of John Donaldson's Teenie in front of Brian Buckley's Teenie, both from Canada. Great work guys!

One last picture of Brian Buckley's Teenie Two in the background, with John Donaldson's in the fore. If you click my name, you can send a message to John and tell him how good it looks. Flies great he says. Not for the inexperienced pilot, though.
